About the Asian Development Bank (ADB)

The position is assigned in the Workspace Hospitality Unit (CSWH-HM) within the Workplace Management and Hospitality Division (CSWH). CSWH is under the Corporate Services Department (CSD).

CSD manages the building and facilities and delivers over 70 diverse services essential for ADB’s operation. It provides administrative support to ADB Management and staff and delivers quality products and services at an affordable cost. The office is headed by the Director General and supported by Division Directors who manage the respective business units.

The Workplace Hospitality Team is responsible for events services, food and beverage services, and a host of personal commercial services including commissary, gas station, and personal service providers such as laundry, cooperative store, and personal banking service outlets.

The Role

The Head of Hospitality Services will, in compliance with internal/industry controls and guidelines, provide strategic and operational leadership to the team in transforming and innovating Hospitality services and managing ADB’s Events Management services, Food and Beverage services, a host of staff Amenity Services, and Support Services and Client Relationships for the executive suites at HQ. The incumbent will also work in close liaison with CSWH’s operations, compliance, space, and capital projects teams, as well as managing contracts and partnerships with 3rd party professional Hospitality services firms.

The incumbent will report to Director, CSWH and will supervise National Staff and Administrative Staff.

Relevant Experience and Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or equivalent in business administration, economics, or finance; or a University degree and at least 5 years specialized experience relevant to the position can be considered relevant to the position. Registered Professional accreditation holders advantageous.
  • International relevant working experience essential, preferably in Asia and across continents.
  • At least 8 years work experience and technical knowledge of managing related Hospitality operations is a plus (e.g., end-to-end Events operations including audio-visual, virtual conferencing; Food and catering operations including vendor sourcing and site operations, quality assurance and control, and Amenity services operations including products, turn over, inventory refresh and management, outreach, promotions, etc.)
  • Proven expertise and skills in client service transformation and setup, and program management.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, influencing, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills developed in a multi-cultural business environment.
  • Demonstrable leadership, management, and supervisory credentials for staff; with skillful mentoring and coaching skills for senior and junior direct reports.
  • Commercial acumen, with strong budget, contractual and vendor management capabilities.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and creative presentation skills in English are required.
  • Working knowledge of standard and finance and inventory computer applications.

The selected candidate is appointed for an initial term of 3 years.
