Generations For Peace is a leading global non-profit peace-building organisation with its headquarters in Amman, Jordan. They are dedicated to sustainable conflict transformation at the grass roots in communities, by promoting youth leadership, community empowerment, active tolerance, and responsible citizenship. They are a volunteer movement, empowering, mentoring and supporting volunteers to be change-makers to create a better future in their own communities.
Since 2007, Generations For Peace have trained and mentored more than 10,689 volunteer leaders of youth in 50 countries in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Their ongoing programmes address local issues of conflict and violence, and have touched the lives of more than 479,817 children, youth and adults.

The Role

Reporting to the COO, the Finance Director is responsible for leading the Finance Department to maintain financial accountability, transparency, and value for money for GFP and GFP Inc. finances, handling all financial transactions and bank accounts, keeping all financial records and maintaining all ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, and cash flow, completing audits and financial reports, to provide quality and timely financial information and to ensure compliance (by all Departments and recipients of GFP funds) with GFP’s and Donor/Partner’s policies and reporting requirements. The Director supervises the Staff in the Department to perform delegated tasks for these financial management responsibilities. In addition, the Director represents the Finance Department in the Senior Management Team and liaises with all Senior Managers to ensure smooth financial procedures and compliance whilst maximizing operational effectiveness.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience in business accounting and financial administration, budget planning, keeping accounts, monthly and annual financial statements and bank reconciliation.
  • Experience handling cash.
  • Experience managing cashflow, creditors and debtors.
  • Excellent computer skills (documents/spreadsheets/databases/presentations/calendars/email).
  • Excellent spoken and written English and Arabic.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and passion for global current affairs, conflict resolution and peace building, and international development.

Preferred:

  • Post-graduate Degree / Professional Qualifications in Finance/Accounting/Management/Human Resource Management
  • Experience in human resource management.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience in legal contracts, non-profit legal structures

 

Qualifications

  • University Bachelor Degree essential, in accounting, finance, business management or administration.
  • CMA Part 1 and Part 2
