Are you a Tanzanian Monitoring & Evaluation expert who is passionate about promoting long-term economic development?  Do you have excellent analytical skills and the ability to lead, guide, coach and mentor others, helping them to learn and grow?  Would you like to contribute to change that could benefit hundreds and thousands of Tanzanians?

Gatsby Africa is seeking an exceptional Senior Manager for Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning for its Cotton Sector Development Programme (CSDP) in Tanzania.  The programme is working with stakeholders so that more than 350,000 farmers can access the quality inputs and training they need to improve agronomy, increase yields and raise incomes.  Successfully transforming the sector would boost Tanzania’s economy by ~US$170 million and lift at least 650,000 people out of poverty.

The Senior Manager for Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) will be at the heart of this work.  They will set the direction of CSDP’s MEL function and lead its management, enabling the programme to develop the robust intelligence and analysis needed to develop, adapt and improve its strategy on an ongoing basis.

The Senior Manager will also aim to help stakeholders develop the sector’s capacity to generate the data and analysis it needs to grow and evolve in the long-term. As such, they will work directly and supportively with partners from the private sector and with key public sector institutions such as the Tanzania Cotton Board, including by mentoring and coaching MEL staff within these partners.  The Senior Manager will also support members of the programme’s MEL team to personally and professionally develop in ways that meet their ambitions and the needs of CSDP.

This exciting role will be part of the programme’s Senior Management Team and report to the Programme Director.  The role requires a candidate with demonstrable experience of designing monitoring and evaluation frameworks in a private sector development context.

Gatsby Africa has a long-term outlook and flexible approach.  This gives our staff huge scope for innovation and creativity.  For a high-calibre person this should be an exciting and rewarding position, with the opportunity to develop new thinking and make a real impact.

This post is open to Tanzanian nationals or those of Tanzanian heritage with the right to work in Tanzania.  We particularly welcome applications from women.
