Key Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to position Oxford HR Americas as a credible leader in executive search in the region within the international development and ‘for purpose’ sector.

  • Establish Oxford HR Americas as a profitable and self-sustaining business in accordance with targets set out in the annual business plan
  • Lead on the development and implementation of the 2019–20 Americas business plan, setting and monitoring objectives, targets and KPIs
  • Contribute to the ongoing reviews of the business at a strategic level and add value to thinking about wider issues of business ethics, developmental activities and organisational issues
  • Identify and clarify priorities, including the views of stakeholders
  • Ensure proper time is given for consultation around the decision-making process
  • Ensure that contributions are realistic in terms of time and resources
  • Develop and manage financial targets and budgets
  • Lead on business development in the region
  • Building on existing client base, identify and develop new clients
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients
  • Consider HR services, pricing and related offerings
  • Design proposals, present and pitch to prospective clients
  • Respond to requests for proposals and submit tender documents
  • Draw up terms of business and manage contracts
  • Draw up sound budgets
  • Responsible for data compliance and risk

Person Specification

  • Substantial experience in senior leadership roles in the International Development space (e.g. country or regional director) OR senior HR credentials OR Executive Search professional
  • Executive search experience or considerable recruitment & selection experience – as HR or hiring manager
  • Proven track record of business development in a relevant practice area
  • Excellent knowledge of at least one of our core practice areas, ideally International Development- its landscape and key issues
  • Experience working internationally
  • Entrepreneurial, with experience running a business or consultancy
  • Strong client management skills
  • Experienced in operational delivery: security, internal HR management, managing budgets & finances, policies & procedures, operational risk
  • Excellent networks in international development or other relevant practice areas in the regions and globally; networks in the public and private sectors would be advantageous
  • Excellent cross-cultural and distance communications skills
  • Strong people management skills, including coaching, mentoring and performance management
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent influencing, negotiating, relationship building and networking skills
  • IT literacy


  • Masters or Equivalent Professional Accreditation
  • Fluency in English
