The Oxford HR team is growing, and we are delighted to have Brian Ombima, Julia Rotich, Paola Martinez and Gianni Bencich joining our team. Find out more about their experiences below.

1. What’s your experience prior to joining Oxford HR?

Brian: I have over 5 years experience in Administration, Program and Project support having worked with International NGOs holding Global and Regional positions.

Julia: I worked in the legal field in an international organization advancing and promoting international justice.

Paola: I am a senior technician in administration in the area of accounting and finance. My first job was in an importation company, where I worked as an administrative assistant. Then I worked as a manager of an office supplies store.

Gianni: Music and technology. I’ve also worked with various non-profit initiatives in Peru, directed mostly towards culture and education, usually with a technology-driven perspective.

2. Why are you interested in International Development/Oxford HR?

Brian: International Development picked my interest because in this sector you get to offer help to individuals to improve their lives an in this part linking them with their perfect jobs.

Julia: The mission, vision and the diversity at Oxford HR attracted me. What Oxford HR stands for and its work of promoting positive change by finding the best people for their clients who in turn make a difference appealed to me as well.

Paola: On a small or large scale we are all responsible for international development because as human beings we are in the position to contribute to social and economic issues. At Oxford HR we support the search for talent that will be involved in managing and solving issues in the social, economic and environmental sphere; it is important to be well informed as our management will determine the most suitable leaders to address these issues.

Gianni: I’m very interested in globality. I want to learn from different cultures and hear different opinions. In the case of International Development, it is nice to find that something that can unite people around the world is this consciousness of the world as a single place, and the interest in being part of something that can make that place better.

3. What issues keep you awake at night?

Brian: I am kept awake by urge to be a better person, make a better environment and world around me, for my family as well. In my view, I think the pandemic and corruption are the world’s problem as of now. Most developing and also developed countries are equally faced by both the issues which really affects the development of their economies the and we all have to put more effort in ending them all. Its going to take a while but its doable.

Julia: What keeps me awake and the most pressing problem right now is the global coronavirus pandemic and the effects it has left and will leave in our lives.

Paola: I would say that poverty, environmental degradation, unemployment, political instability and violence remain as major challenges globally.

Gianni: Inequality. We are taught to put up walls to separate the wealthy from the unwealthy, to not see the struggle from others and keep ourselves to our little bubbles. We must learn to have some basic empathy for our literal neighbours, learn to care about fellow humans and try to understand we are all at the same level if we want to solve greater problems.
