Tell us a little about your background and your interest in this role?

I’ve spent the past 18 years working on projects and programmes in Africa that includes 14 years also spent living in west and southern Africa being Nigeria and Sierra Leone, and Botswana, Malawi and Zimbabwe. I was working for British Council which is a cultural relations organisation and my sector focus spanned education, governance and the arts and creative industries – so very different to affordable housing, although it also included a strong focus on policy change and livelihood transformation. I moved back to the UK in January this year to take up this post.

What does the future hold for you within this organisation; what are your ambitions?

I want to lead a portfolio of work in Africa that delivers on Reall’s mission and does literally transform people’s lives, through access to climate smart housing and finance, that’s with a happy and motivated team of colleagues in Reall and partners in our Africa network. I also want to use this role to deepen my knowledge and understanding of financial inclusion in Africa, because it’s so fundamental to sustainable livelihoods.
