Country Director, Sudan

Practical Action is seeking a Country Director to implement its programmes and explore new opportunities in Sudan.  Based in Khartoum, you will report to the International Director Policies and Programmes. You will be a member of Practical Action’s international management team, sharing responsibility for developing their international strategies and policies.

The position of Country Director requires an outstanding individual to lead the organisation during this important period implementing a country strategy which builds on our experience in Sudan, and maximises synergy with our global goals. Meeting House Manager

Oxford Quaker Meeting is looking for an experienced Manager, with excellent communication and organisation skills.  The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our busy Meeting House in central Oxford, and help steer the further opening up of the premises to the wider community. As well as being the public face of the Meeting during the week, the role involves managing an extensive programme of lettings. Chief Technical Advisor

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds works internationally to preserve the richness of nature for the well-being today of every one of us and as an inheritance for future generations. The RSPB has more than one million members. It manages nearly 200 nature reserves in the UK and has more than 20 years’ experience of working with partners in developing countries.

The Gola Rainforest National Park (GRNP) Programme is an international partnership that aims to be a catalyst for peace, prosperity and national pride in Sierra Leone, ensuring that the globally important habitats, biodiversity and environmental services of the GRNP and wider Gola landscape are conserved and that neighbouring communities are active environmental stewards of the natural resource base that underpins and enhances their livelihoods.

The Programme first took seed in 1989, after a rapid biodiversity survey which highlighted that the Gola Forest needed greater conservation attention. The Gola Rainforest is one of the largest remnants of the Upper Guinean Tropical Rainforest, identified as a global biodiversity hotspot, requiring the utmost effort and attention from the conservation community. It is the largest remnant in Sierra Leone and over 330 bird species have been recorded, 14 of which face global risk of extinction.

RSPB seeks a new Chief Technical Advisor to support the Management Team. S/he will be based in Kenema. The Advisor will provide expert advice and guidance to the Protected Area Manager and the Technical Advisors for the delivery of the GRNP’s programme, ensuring alignment with the REDD project targets and objectives. Ensuring effective implementation and monitoring of the GRNP program, including research and co-management, agricultural interventions, park operations, administration and finance. S/he will also provide capacity building in effective natural resource management, project management, monitoring and evaluation and leadership skills to the GRNP senior management.
