Philip Nelson

Philip has now been working in a senior leadership executive search capacity across the wider civil society space and the education sectors for over twelve years. He joined the Charity People Group in February 2016 as Director of Executive Search. Following the merger of the executive search activities of Charity People, Career Volunteer and Oxford HR, he was appointed to a new role as Deputy Managing Director at Oxford HR. The three brands hold leadership positions within the field of executive search, nationally and internationally and in the appointment of non-executives.

A passionate advocate for and on behalf of the sector, in recent years Philip’s professional career has been complemented by his roles as Chair of the 7/7 Memorial Trust, a charity which he founded; as Vice Chair of Best Beginnings, a national charity which seeks to combat child health inequalities; and as a trustee of Coram’s Fields, a children’s charity, which is seen as an exemplar for children’s play. Philip is also one of a growing band of Angels at Awards for Young Musicians and has served as a trustee of the Crime Prevention Panel.

Philip has unrivalled experience and knowledge of the sector and combines this with his unparalleled access to networks of quality candidates at senior levels throughout the commercial, public and civil society sectors and within Parliament. He is regularly invited to speak on matters connected to governance, leadership and diversity by city firms, livery companies, Government and Civil Service and the national media. Alongside this he has worked closely with the Charity Commission and has been a key contributor to Trustees’ Week.
