The Union draws from the best scientific evidence and expertise to advance solutions to public health challenges affecting people living in poverty. They conduct research, provide training and offer technical assistance leading to health solutions for the poor in more than 150 countries each year (Tuberculosis tobacco use, HIV and AIDS, lung disease, non-communicable diseases). Partners include governments, international agencies, civil society and the private sector.Challenge TB (CTB), led by KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation (KNCV), is a USAID-funded 5-year global program to decrease TB mortality and morbidity in high burden countries. An international consortium of leading organisations, including The Union, will be implementing this global programme. The Deputy Director will serve as the second technical liaison (after the CTB Director) with the USAID mission, the National Tuberculosis Program (NTP), Challenge TB country project partners both in country and abroad, as well as with other relevant USAID and the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) implementing partners in DRC.
